Canadians make great craft beer. Especially in British Columbia. And the Great Canadian Beer Festival is all the proof you will ever need. Going on 21 years now, the festival shows off the Canadian craft beer phenomenon that is still growing in BC and other provinces. Canadians also enjoy drinking great craft beer, while wearing funny costumes. Pretty cool, ‘eh?
You can get great craft beer in Alberta and Ontario too (and the Yukon), but the GCBF, held the first weekend in September each year in Victoria, BC, features mostly British Columbia brews (Victoria, Vancouver and nearby suburbs). Seedspitter, Dead Frog, Aporkalypse and Hops & Robbers are just a few of the tantalising brews available. It even attracts a few US brewers (Elysian, Sound, Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB), Ninkasi to name a few), who distribute their beers in the Great White North.
