A First: Charcuterie, Cheese, Beer, Cider and Wine

Seattle’s first festival dedicated to both charcuterie and cheese is The Cheese and Meat Festival happening at McCaw Hall (321 Mercer St.), Saturday, April 29, 7-9 p.m.  Odin and Jellyfish breweries will be pouring along with four cideries and wineries. Here’s the news release.

What/when/where: Seattle’s first festival dedicated to charcuterie and cheese, The Cheese and Meat Festival, flings open its doors at McCaw Hall (321 Mercer St.) on Saturday, April 29. Tickets are still available for the 7-9 p.m. tasting; note the 3-5 p.m. tasting has sold out.

What to expect: You’ll be greeted with a charcuterie board and tasting glass upon entry to course your way through the hall for two decadent hours! Sample cheese and charcuterie paired with wine, beer, cider, along with other snacks and condiments. Select participants include: Salumi, Sunny Pine Farm, Jellyfish Brewing, Mollusk (brewery), Lost Peacock Creamery, Uli’s Famous Sausage, Honest Biscuits, Finn River Cidery, Coral Wines, Friday Harbor House of Jerky, vegan artisan sausage from Field Roast Grain Meat Co., and dozens more!

Why: The abundance of regional artisan shops and restaurants thoughtfully pairing fantastic cheese and charcuterie has never been greater. The Cheese and Meat Festival brings together these artisans for one special day, offering an engaging, experiential format under one roof.

Who’s behind the festivities: Producer Dave Bain’s recent sold-out Meat and Cheese Festivals in Victoria, and Vancouver BC, Canada, compelled him to bring the event to Seattle this year.

“The festival gives attendees the ability to learn about and taste new cheeses and meats. Attendees enjoy the experience of building their board with their favorites,” Bain says. “It also allows mom-and-pop shops to showcase their artisan products and gain marketing exposure they couldn’t otherwise afford.”
